A highly practical, two-day immersion designed for clinicians who want to develop real confidence in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). This workshop focuses on hands-on skill development, live demonstrations, and practical clinical integration, allowing participants to translate ultrasound knowledge directly into everyday patient care.
The program combines concise lectures with extensive supervised scanning, ensuring that participants quickly move from theory to practice. Core POCUS applications used in perioperative medicine, emergency care, and critical care are taught using a learn–see–practice format, where each topic begins with a focused introduction followed by guided scanning sessions.
Hands-On Training Designed for Skill Development
The majority of the workshop is dedicated to hands-on ultrasound practice in small groups with experienced faculty. Participants work directly with ultrasound systems and live models, receiving individualized instruction on image acquisition, probe positioning, and interpretation.
Through repeated scanning opportunities, attendees will gain practical experience performing key POCUS examinations that can be applied immediately in clinical practice.
Hands-on sessions focus on:
Ultrasound-guided vascular access for peripheral, arterial, and central lines
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) assessment
Lung ultrasound for respiratory pathology
This practical structure ensures participants develop confidence in performing and interpreting ultrasound examinations, not just understanding the theory behind them.
Structured Learning with Immediate Practice
Each session follows a structured learning model designed to accelerate skill acquisition:
This approach allows participants to immediately apply new concepts while reinforcing correct scanning techniques and interpretation skills.
Cardiopulmonary and Abdominal Ultrasound Applications
Participants will develop practical skills in cardiopulmonary and abdominal ultrasound, learning how these examinations support rapid bedside diagnosis and patient management.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine and NYSORA. Postgraduate Institute for Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Physician Continuing Medical Education
The Postgraduate Institute for Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 13 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Continuing Nursing Education
The maximum number of ANCC Nursing credit hours awarded for this Continuing Nursing Education activity is 13 contact hours. Pharmacotherapy contact hours for Advance Practice Registered Nurses will be designated on your certificate.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Postgraduate Institute for Medicine (PIM) requires faculty, planners, and others in control of educational content to disclose all their financial relationships with ineligible companies. All identified financial relationships are thoroughly vetted and mitigated according to PIM policy. PIM is committed to providing its learners with high quality accredited continuing education activities and related materials that promote improvements or quality in healthcare and not a specific proprietary business interest of an ineligible company.
What is a CME activity? A Continuing Medical Education(CME) activity serves to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships that a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public, or the profession.
Why do physicians need continuing medical education (CME) credit? Physicians use CME credit to demonstrate that they have participated in educational activities and obtained CME credit to document meeting the requirements of state medical boards, medical specialty societies, specialty boards, hospital medical staffs, the Joint Commission, insurance groups, and others
Who accredits the Course? Following a successful application, the course will be accredited by the European Accreditation Council for CME (EACCME®). Accreditation by the EACCME means that the CME/CPD activity provided is of high scientific value, is free of commercial bias and promotes active adult learning. This is of paramount importance to doctors who need to report to their National Accreditation Authority on their CME/CPD activity over a certain period of time, and this even more now that many national systems are (becoming) mandatory and not voluntary. By attending an EACCME accredited event, they will be able to obtain European CME credits (ECMEC) which are recognised not only in a majority of European countries (with which the EACCME has signed agreements), but also in the USA and Canada. By handing in their EACCME certificate to their National Accreditation Authority, their credits will automatically be recognised and converted into national credits.
What documentation does a physician receive for participating in a certified CME activity provided by an accredited CME provider? A CME certificate will be issued and can be used to prove attendance.
All cancellations have to be made in writing to: [email protected]. Cancellations made more than 1 calendar month in advance will receive 50% refund of fees paid. Cancellations within 1 month of the event date will receive no refund of fees paid
