Why Attend

Where Clinical Mastery Meets Examination Confidence

This 2-day hands-on course teaches you the technical skills, techniques, and latest updates in the use of ultrasound in pain medicine — and also equips you with the knowledge to prepare for the CIPS examination, including guidance on performing during the practical component.

Delegates are taught a standardised, step-wise approach to various pain management procedures using ultrasound guidance. Faculty are either serving CIPS examiners or have successfully passed the exam — some of the most respected instructors and clinicians in the field.

Group numbers are kept deliberately small to maximise your learning experience, with ample time for hands-on practice on both live models and simulators.

CIPS Examination Preparation

Structured guidance on how to prepare for — and excel in — both the theoretical and practical parts of the CIPS examination.

Small Group Learning

Intentionally limited group sizes ensure personalised instruction, meaningful faculty interaction, and focused feedback.

Standardised Step-Wise Technique

Learn a reproducible, evidence-based approach to ultrasound-guided pain procedures as taught by key opinion leaders.

Clinical Inspiration

Leave inspired to implement more ultrasound-guided techniques in your everyday pain practice immediately after the course.

Hands-On Live Model Practice

Generous time for real-world skill development on live models and simulators under expert supervision.

Program Overview

Two Intensive Days - Theory, Technique & Practice

The curriculum follows a carefully sequenced structure: from foundational ultrasound principles to advanced procedural techniques and CIPS examination skills.

Sessions are intentionally structured to balance didactic teaching with practical application. Each procedural module includes a step-by-step demonstration followed by supervised hands-on practice on live models and simulators.

Faculty are available throughout for one-on-one guidance. A dedicated CIPS preparation session provides insight into the examination format, common pitfalls, and high-yield strategies.

information

An application has been made to the UEMS EACCME® for CME accreditation of this event.

FAQ CME

What is a CME activity? A Continuing Medical Education(CME) activity serves to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships that a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public, or the profession.

Why do physicians need continuing medical education (CME) credit? Physicians use CME credit to demonstrate that they have participated in educational activities and obtained CME credit to document meeting the requirements of state medical boards, medical specialty societies, specialty boards, hospital medical staffs, the Joint Commission, insurance groups, and others.

Who accredits the Course? Accreditation by the EACCME means that the CME/CPD activity provided is of high scientific value, is free of commercial bias and promotes active adult learning. This is of paramount importance to doctors who need to report to their National Accreditation Authority on their CME/CPD activity over a certain period of time, and this even more now that many national systems are (becoming) mandatory and not voluntary. By attending an EACCME accredited event, they will be able to obtain European CME credits (ECMEC) which are recognised not only in a majority of European countries (with which the EACCME has signed agreements), but also in the USA and Canada. By handing in their EACCME certificate to their National Accreditation Authority, their credits will automatically be recognised and converted into national credits.

What documentation does a physician receive for participating in a certified CME activity provided by an accredited CME provider? A CME certificate will be issued and can be used to prove attendance.

Frequently Asked Questions

These workshops are designed to be highly interactive and hands-on. While brief lectures and demonstrations provide the theoretical foundation, the majority of the time is dedicated to practical training with ultrasound machines, models, and expert supervision. This ensures participants leave with skills they can apply immediately in the clinical setting.

To maximize personal attention and practice time, NYSORA workshops are intentionally kept small and intimate. Each session is limited to a small group of participants, ensuring direct interaction with instructors, plenty of scanning time, and an immersive learning experience.

Most NYSORA workshops are CME accredited. Accreditation details are listed on the event page, so participants can confirm whether CME credits are offered for the session they choose.

All workshops are taught by board-certified anesthesiologists and pain management specialists, faculty experts, fellows, and invited guest instructors with years of experience in regional anesthesia and pain management. This blend of expertise ensures that participants benefit from both academic knowledge and practical, real-world insights.

No formal prerequisites are required. Workshops are suitable for a range of professionals, from residents and fellows in training to experienced anesthesiologists, pain management specialists and CRNAs looking to refine their pain procedure skills. The small-group format allows instructors to tailor their teaching to the skill level of each participant.

The registration fee generally includes:
  • Access to all lectures and hands-on sessions
  • Use of ultrasound equipment and training models
  • Course materials and clinical guides
  • Lunch and coffee breaks during the day
  • Complimentary 3-month access to NYSORA Ultrasound Pain App and Anesthesia Assistant app
Accommodation and travel are not included, but guidance on nearby hotels is provided on the event page.

Participants don’t need to bring specialized equipment - all necessary materials and ultrasound machines are provided on-site. It is recommended to bring a notebook, comfortable attire, and, if desired, a personal tablet or laptop to access NYSORA’s digital resources during the course.

Cancellations must be submitted in writing to [email protected]. The general policy is:
