Building Blocks of Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia

MASTERCLASS LEVEL 2
Location Brussels, Belgium

Best for.

Level-2 is best suited for delegates who have some knowledge on ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia, but lack execution confidence, standardized protocols and clear-cut guidance on indications and simplified technique instructions. This workshop builds on the Level-1 and teaches common ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia procedures that are the core of regional anesthesia practice.

What will you learn.

In this 2-day program, you will submerge into this NYSORA’s signature program to expand the knowledge and learn the essential functional anatomy, scanning principles, and techniques for common ultrasound-guided nerve blocks, and vascular access.

Learning methods.

Lectures using the NYSORA’s new Virtual Cadaver Anatomy Dissection (VCAD) videos will complement the hands-on scanning on living models and NYSORA SIMULATORSTM. The practice on NYSORA SIMULATORSTM is another reason why our workshops are so popular – it cuts down on the lecture-style and transforms the workshop into a heavy-duty hands-on experience that helps the knowledge retention and facilitates its clinical application.

Learning objectives.

  1. Describe how to avoid complications of nerve blocks.
  2. Discuss patient preparation and sterility precautions.
  3. Demonstrate correct transducer position and scanning technique for common upper and lower extremity nerve blocks.
  4. Recognize relevant anatomical structures on ultrasound for common upper (i.e., interscalene, supraclavicular, infraclavicular and axillary brachial plexus blocks) and lower extremity (i.e., fascia iliaca, femoral nerve, popliteal and ankle blocks) blocks.
  5. Describe the prevention and treatment of local anesthetic systemic toxicity (LAST).

Accreditation Statement.

An application has been made to the EACCME® for CME accreditation of this event.
