Jean-Louis Horn

Jean-Louis Horn is a professor and the director of regional anesthesia in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon.

He has established a state-of-the-art regional anesthesia group at OHSU that is widely recognized for its innovative approach to anesthesia care and pain management.  All modalities of extremity and truncal blocks are performed daily using ultrasound guidance. In approximately 70% of their procedures, the team administers perineural infusions; and to date, more than 2000 patients have been discharged to home with continuous nerve block infusion pumps.

Dr. Horn’s group actively participates in educational activities at the local, national, and international levels and also conducts research on local anesthetic toxicity, anatomy/sonography related to regional anesthesia, and outcome of different RA modalities. Their research is supported by the National Institutes of Health, private industry, and the department.
