Hospital’s Acute Pain Service.
PERIPHERAL NERVE
BLOCKS/CATHETERS
INSTERSCALENE BLOCK: Shoulder arthroscopy/rotator cuff repair
0.25-0.5% bupivacaine OR ropivacaine. May add adjuvant like fentanyl or
epinephrine (1:400,000) 20-30cc.
TOTAL SHOULDER REPLACEMENT
Continuous brachial plexus catheter:
Bolus Ropivacaine 0.5% 20cc.
Infusion: Ropivacaine 0.2% in 200ml normal saline run at 5-7cc/hour
PCA for breakthrough
