Leonard Corning is credited with discovering and administering the first spinal anesthetic in 1885 which was published in a medical journal.1.

Hi,thanks for your good and scientific articles,I am chief anesthesiologist in Imam ali hospital in Chabahar,Iran, and from 6 years ago i use spinal anesthesia in neonates and infants with the best results, not only for patients,
but also for surgeons, and i use small doses of ketamin(1-2mg/kg)plus atropin(20 microgram/kg)for sedation and I never had any complications like apnea or bradycardia or decrease in spo2.I think this will be a good choice.I used this technich for surgery of hypertrofic stenotic pyloris, even, without any complications.
Best Regards.Dr.Hamid Nemati,M.D.

SA.I use Lidocaine 5%,and according to patient weigth, and I dilute it with CSF,
and I use simple needle,23 gauge,in a sterile and aseptic manner, and in lateral position. In more older children
I use sitting positin without any sedatives and just with talking and reassurancing the patient. Is there any special needle or drug for SA in neonates and infants?
