The axillary brachial plexus block was first described by Halstead in New York
City at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center in 1884. The axillary brachial
plexus block is a basic nerve block technique, and one of the most commonly
practiced blocks by anesthesiologists in the United States. An axillary block is
an excellent choice for forearm and hand surgery.
