NYSORA - The New York School of Regional Anesthesia: St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Regional Anesthesia Preceptorship St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Regional Anesthesia Preceptorship ================================================================================ admin on 13/09/2011 12:10:00 Click here to view St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Regional Anesthesia Preceptorship Introduction: This dynamic and interactive program is designed for practicing anesthesiologists who wish to learn and observe techniques of regional anesthesia as practiced at the St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital. The preceptorship is limited to 4 participants per day in order to maintain an intimate teaching environment. Program Description: Over the course of this one-day program (approximately 8 hours), you will be able to: * Take part in dedicated lectures on: o Introduction to ultrasound and knobology o Ultrasound guided Upper extremity blocks above the clavicle o Ultrasound guided Upper extremity blocks below the clavicle o Ultrasound guided femoral, saphenous and sciatic blocks o Ultrasound guided trunk blocks * Receive instruction in phantom practice needling with a meat or gel phantom model * Practice scanning using a live volunteer model * Observe multiple blocks throughout the day, including the placement of perineural catheters * Discuss protocols for patient selection, follow-up and management of home pumps * See the regional anesthesia facility, operating rooms, and recovery room * View the latest in regional anesthesia equipment and procedures * Review appropriate documentation for * Network with fellow regional anesthesiologists to discuss challenging cases encountered in modern regional anesthesia practice. Note that the number of clinical cases observed is dependent upon that day’s operating room schedule. Courses are held on Wednesdays and Fridays. This is an observational preceptorship. Participants will not interact directly, nor perform any procedure on patients. Participants will be expected to comply with all departmental and hospital rules and regulations. This is a non-CME activity.
